I've had a 4shared.com account for years. I used it to store all of my mp3s. A lot of people will ask me on YouTube how they can download Piracy Funds Terrorism, vol. 1. Here is a video that tells you where to go to download the album. You need a 4shared.com to be able to download the mp3s, but that is pretty easy to get.
A message from gays and lesbians in St. Petersburg - a city that I would love to visit, but I not going anywhere near as long as gay people are treated so badly there.
I just watched Martin Scorsese's "Hugo", and it was pretty good. There was definitely a message about preserving history, preserving old films, and preserving art and creative ideas.
Here is the trailer for Hugo ...
The theme of Georges Melies and his work dominates the film so I thought I would post The Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight Tonight" video, which is full of Melies' influence.
George Melies - A Trip To The Moon - black and white
George Melies - A Trip To The Moon - painted (this is how it is supposed to be viewed, but this is only part of the film)
The music in the video above is (of course) not part of the original film.
I always thought this scene where Cleo McDowell (John Amos) explains the subtle differences between his restaurant, McDowell's, and McDonald's was funny ...
Prometheus is the new sci-fi movie from director Ridley Scott, who brought us Alien and Blade Runner (among many other cool movies). His brother, Tony Scott, is also a famous director, who did movies like True Romance.
The Alien franchise has been all over the place. It started in 1979 with Ridley Scott and Sigourney Weaver. It went to James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) in 1986 with Aliens. It went to David Fincher (Seven, The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) in 1992. The quirky French director, Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie, The City of Lost Children) took over in 1997 with Alien: Resurrection (with a Ripley that was resurrected with genetic experiments). Then, the franchise combined with Predator in AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) and AVP: Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007). Paul W. S. Anderson (Resident Evil director and Milla Jovovich's husband) did the 2004 AVP movie, and it wasn't that bad. It was kind of refreshing to see two of our favorite villains back in one movie. I haven't seen the 2007 version, but its directors, Colin Strause and Greg Strause (brothers) have a history of doing visual effects in big movies.
I am hoping Prometheus will return to us to the classics of Alien and Aliens, two well-made movies that still hold up very well today.
It has an interesting cast: Charlize Theron (no explanation needed), Michael Fassbender (the "It" actor right now ... look up how many high profile movies he has been in), Noomi Rapace (the original "girl with the dragon tattoo" ... she starred in all 3 original Swedish films based on the mega-selling Stieg Larsson trilogy, and she owns the role of Lisbeth Salander), Patrick Wilson (who has starred in cool movies like "Little Children" with Kate Winslet), and Guy Pearce ("Memento"!).
Therefore, there is no reason why this movie should not do well.
In other news, Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are shown to be producing a movie called "Postdamer Platz" on IMDB.com (this could be an error or rumor) so here are some photos I took of Postdamer Platz in Berlin last July.
Some random James Bond - related pop culture items ...
Robbie Williams released a song, "Millenium", in 1999. The song samples the theme song from the James Bond movie, "You Only Live Twice".
Nancy Sinatra sang this theme song, but I like the instrumental version ...
The "Millenium" video copies some of the scenes from the James Bond movie, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", which was the only James Bond movie with the actor, George Lazenbi, playing James Bond.
Louis Amstrong sang the great song from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", "We Have All The Time In The World" ...
There is a song from Indian movie, "Caravan", called "Piya Tu Ab To Aaja", that has a James Bond part at 3:12 ...
I had a dream that I was going to sing this song in some sort of American Idol -tyoe of contest. It was more like a final exam of a college course, though.
